Heidelberg Materials
HeidelbergCement became Heidelberg Materials
HeidelbergCement becomes Heidelberg Materials. The company unveiled its new brand identity in the presence of hundreds of employees at its headquarters in Heidelberg. "Heidelberg" remains synonymous with continuity and market leadership. "Materials" replaces "Cement" and stands for an innovative portfolio of sustainable and smart building materials as well as digital solutions.
"We are proud of our cement business, but the company's range of services goes beyond cement. Today and even more so in the future," said Dr. Dominik von Achten, Chairman of the Management Board. "Our future is sustainable. Our future is digital. Customer requirements, markets and competitors are changing rapidly. Opportunities and challenges transcend national borders, communication is becoming more global. Opportunities for differentiation arise. We will be the first company in the world to offer cement produced without carbon emissions on a large scale as early as 2024. We are making vigorous progress in scaling up our CCUS activities: by 2030 we will reduce our CO2 emissions by 10 million tonnes with the projects that we have already launched.
To fully capitalize on our strengths as a global team, we must emerge and act united and speak with one voice. With our new and global brand Heidelberg Materials, we give our transformation a face and an anchor. We continue to drive change in our industry towards sustainability and digitization - for the benefit of our customers, our employees, our shareholders and the society in which we live."
Global rollout from 2023 onwards.
In the first step, the rebranding will begin at the Group level, where Heidelberg Materials will be presented immediately as a brand. From 2023 onwards, local and international subsidiaries will gradually be renamed Heidelberg Materials.
John Morrish, member of the Management Board and responsible for brand development, said: "As a pioneer on the path to carbon neutrality and a circular economy in the building materials industry, we offer our customers sustainable value: By 2030, we aim to generate half of our revenue with low carbon products. Heidelberg Materials is a powerful brand that supports our global standards for quality and sustainability and combines the strengths of our countries with those of the entire group.”
Goal: the first net zero company in the sector.
The new logo combines rationality and emotion. It brings together the traditional values and future areas of the Group. The connected visual is new: two elements joined in an organic form represent the initial letter "h" of the brand. The larger shape means a structural element and thus the technical advantages of Heidelberg Materials. The smaller element symbolizes the future areas of the Group.
The new brand reflects the ambition for change while emphasizing accessibility and authenticity. At the same time, it is emphasized that Heidelberg Materials is a main pillar of the global construction materials industry with a specific goal: to become the first company in the sector with zero carbon emissions.
