Heidelberg Materials Devnya JSC and Heidelberg Materials Vulkan JSC, Heidelberg Materials Group's subsidiaries in Bulgaria pursue a strategy of Sustainable Development, which aims to fulfill the environmental, safety and social responsibility commitments made by the companies.
Environmental protection benefits everyone: our communities, customers, employees and future generation and is one of companies’ key priorities, which perform continuous monitoring and operations’ improvements in order to minimize their environmental impact.
The Environment policy together with the other companies` policies is an integral part of our Sustainability Strategy in line with the scope of the Cement Sustainability Initiative (CSI) of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD). It is part of the integrated management systems for quality, energy and environment and reflects our commitment to the implementation of environmental standards that comply with or exceed the requirements of local legislation. The policy is developed in accordance with all relevant European standards and local legislation as well as Heidelberg Materials Group’s policies.
Awareness and training programs are conducted regularly, in order to promote appropriate personal and corporate conduct and management practices. The best practices are shared to enhance environmental performances.
We consider that positive dialogue with local communities and authorities is essential. The establishment of such interaction is to encourage high standards for environmental protection, social responsibility and safety generating benefits at local, regional and national level.
Following our path towards Sustainability the Companies identify seven key priorities within this Environment Policy and are committed to continuously improve their performance in the following areas:
- Abatement of climate change trough reducing carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions
- Responsible use of fossil fuels and raw materials and substitute with alternative sources
- Reduction of water consumption and maintain its quality
